Hippo Wood Knob | Premium Wooden Cabinet Knob India

In short: the Hippo Wood Knob is a wood cabinet knob from the Brass Essence range, 70 mm — best for nursery and playroom drawers wanting a solid, low-profile animal grip.

Brass Essence Product Code: W-0024

The Hippo Wood Knob rounds out a broad, low-slung body silhouette in solid natural wood, at 70mm wide with a compact 50mm height — a squat, weighty profile distinct from the more upright cat or taller elephant knobs elsewhere in the fourteen-piece W-0024 series.

The hippo's wide, rounded body gives this knob a substantial grip surface relative to its height, similar in spirit to the turtle's domed shell but broader and less tall — a shape that sits low and solid on a drawer front rather than standing up prominently.

Because the silhouette is rounded on all sides without sharp directional features like the giraffe's neck or the cat's pointed ears, the hippo knob is fairly forgiving to mount, reading clearly as its shape from most reasonable orientations rather than needing to face one specific way.

Beach wood keeps the hippo pale and playful, while walnut gives the rounded body more visual weight and definition — useful if the knob needs to stand out clearly against a busy or patterned drawer front.

As part of the broader savannah and safari cluster within the W-0024 series alongside the giraffe, elephant, and lion, the hippo groups naturally for a themed set spanning both African wildlife and household-pet shapes. Its wide, stable base also makes it one of the more visually grounded pieces to anchor a mixed set of taller and shorter animal knobs.

What is the Hippo Wood Knob?

The Hippo Wood Knob is a wood cabinet knob from the Brass Essence range. According to Janke hardness testing data for American black walnut, walnut measures roughly 1,010 lbf on the Janke hardness scale, the industry-standard test for a wood's resistance to denting, putting it comfortably in the range used for quality furniture and cabinetry, which is part of why wood is a genuinely practical choice for hardware that gets handled daily, not just a decorative one.

How does the hippo's shape compare to the turtle knob?

Both offer a rounded, low grip surface, but the hippo is wider and less domed than the turtle's shell shape, giving it a flatter, broader footprint on the drawer front.

Does the hippo knob need to be mounted in a specific direction?

Not strictly — its rounded body without sharp directional features like a neck or pointed ears makes it fairly forgiving to orient, unlike shapes such as the giraffe or cat.

Which other animals pair well with the hippo for a safari-themed set?

The giraffe, elephant, and lion knobs from the same series work well together for a themed run of African wildlife shapes across a set of drawers.
